In March of last year, I attended the birthday celebration of my friend Belinda Uy. While there, I got to meet her former collegue from URC, Jane Porcincula. A few days after the party, Jane messaged me with an invitation to speak in front of the women of their church.

She felt that my advocacy at Radiance Image Consultancy is aligned with theirs at Shepherd to the Nations Outreach Church. We both believe that, as Christ’s ambassadors, it is important to project an image that inspires. Because of this, she thought it would be ideal for me to deliver the keynote speech at their Women’s Month Event. Without giving it a second thought, I graciously accepted.

The talk took place on a Sunday. After worship at CCF Alabang, my husband and I took the kids home then headed to the venue in Cainta, Rizal. I was more than glad to travel all the way from Cavite to Cainta to do my calling and fulfill my purpose!

Let me tell you a little about Shepherd to the Nations Outreach Church. Made up of individuals who have accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, the institution’s mission is to win people for Christ. It also aims to disciple, train and equip its members to fulfill their God-given calling.

As for the their Women’s Month Event, the affair was entitled HOW TO BE YOU? The True Value of Beauty Inside and Out on Women of Word and Worship. The primary objective of the event was to impart to all women that, as Christ’s ambassadors, we have to bring forward our best, both in looks and personality, while sharing God’s word.

I wanted to show our attendees that we can achieve this by how we dress, through choosing the best color based on skin tone for example, without sacrificing comfort.

During my session, we talked about the colors that would suit each of the participants. I told them about the impact that wearing both right and wrong colors has on their appearance, overall image, and the first impressions that they make.

I also taught them how to choose the proper outfits to wear for different body shapes, and how to pick the right style and the best colors. I wanted them to understand why we should consistently strive to be well-groomed and beautiful, whether at home or in other places.

Beyond the physical, I also stressed the value of being an inspiration rather than an irritation. One very important message I left them with is that the true essense of beauty is inspired by this verse, 1 Peter 3:3-4:

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment,

such as elaborate hairstyles and the

wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.

Rather, it should be that of your inner self,

the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit,

which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
